Academic Boycott

this page is reserved for the final outcome of the discussion of the Academic boycott suggested by the UCU, and later abandoned.

Does this statement cover it?

"The Green Party has considered the proposed academic boycott, and although some were minded to back it, others considered it to be unhelpful, in that we should be communicating with opinion formers on both sides more, not less or not at all.

After seeking legal advice, the UCU executive abandoned the idea through fear of punitive damages were it to be taken to court on possible grounds of discrimination and lose.

We seek other ways of pressing Israel to negotiate peace."

There may be a case however for UN Sanctions on Israeli regime.
